Actor IK Ogbonna has voiced strong support for fellow Nollywood star Ini Edo, who has come under criticism from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over the title of her latest movie, A Very Dirty Christmas.

In a post on Instagram, Ogbonna expressed disappointment with CAN, questioning why the association remained silent during the months of promotional activity for the film, only raising objections after the movie was released and performing well nationwide.

“TBH! I am deeply disappointed with CAN. You saw the promotions for this title for months and said nothing. The movie title was officially approved by the Censors Board, and we moved forward in good faith,” he wrote.

Ogbonna emphasised that the issue is not about conflict but about fairness, consistency, and integrity. He challenged the association on the timing of their reaction, asking how it aligns with Christian principles to speak out only after progress has been made.

“Now that the film is out, showing nationwide and doing well, suddenly there’s an issue with the title. How Christian is it to stay silent all along, then speak only when progress has been made? This isn’t about conflict – it’s about fairness, consistency, and integrity,” he added.

The movie A Very Dirty Christmas has received widespread attention and is currently showing across Nigerian cinemas. The controversy highlights ongoing debates about creative freedom and sensitivity in the entertainment industry.
