The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned that it will not tolerate any form of fraud or manipulation in the mobilization of Corps members across the country.
The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, gave the warning at the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Pre-Mobilization Workshop held in Abuja on Monday.
Nafiu emphasized that the scheme was committed to upholding the integrity and transparency of its mobilization process, stressing that any individual or institution found engaging in fraudulent practices would face strict sanctions.
“NYSC will continue to apply sanctions wherever such unethical practices are discovered,” he said.
The DG lamented the proliferation of unauthorized higher institutions and rising cases of data manipulation, identity theft, and inconsistent data from Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs). He also identified weak inter-agency data linkages, cybersecurity breaches, and poor data management as major challenges confronting the scheme.
In her remarks, the Director, Corps Mobilisation Department, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, urged all participants to align their operations with national policies and international best practices, noting that integrity in data handling was essential to the success of the mobilization process.
Also speaking at the event, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed that 17 individuals, including JAMB officials, were currently facing prosecution for offences related to admission, graduation, and NYSC mobilization.
He cautioned Student Affairs Officers against collecting data from unreliable sources, advising them to rely solely on JAMB’s verified database to ensure accuracy and authenticity.
Oloyede further warned that the fight against fraudulent admissions and fake certificates would continue until total compliance was achieved.
