A fire incident occurred at the Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja in the early hours of Thursday, affecting only the Adidas Sports store within the popular shopping complex. The cause of the fire, which began around 3:00 a.m., had not yet been determined at the time of filing this report.
Eyewitnesses said firefighters from the Federal Fire Service, the Berger Fire Department, and the FCT Fire Service responded promptly to the scene, working alongside police officers who helped secure the area.
A resident of Jabi, identified as Saliu, told our correspondent that the situation was quickly brought under control and that no casualties were recorded.
He said, “Around 3 a.m. this morning, there was a fire incident at the Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja. No loss of life or injury was recorded. Only the Adidas Sports shop was affected by the fire.”
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said officers were deployed immediately to prevent looting and maintain order.
“We received a distress call at about 3:40 a.m. We immediately deployed our men there to secure the place and prevent any breach of public order,” she stated.
The incident comes shortly after another fire outbreak was reported at the Old Karu Market in the Federal Capital Territory, where goods worth millions of naira were destroyed before fire service officials successfully extinguished the blaze.
