Hansi Flick has confirmed he has signed a new contract extension with FC Barcelona that will keep him at the club until 2028, with an option for an additional season.
The announcement comes just days after the German tactician guided Barcelona to their second consecutive La Liga title, sealed with a 2–0 victory over fierce rivals Real Madrid at Camp Nou.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s upcoming fixture against Deportivo Alavés, Flick expressed satisfaction with the new agreement and confidence in the club’s direction.
“I am very happy and what I have achieved gives me confidence to continue one or two more years,” he said.
“For now, I am under contract until 2028, and if everything goes well, we will extend it. It has been a good agreement for both parties.”
Flick added that while many coaches prefer longer tenures, he believes shorter, focused cycles suit Barcelona better.
He also set a new target for his squad this season: reaching 100 league points.
“Our goal is to reach 100 points, and to do so we have to win all three matches,” he said. “We have celebrated the title a lot but now we can play well.”
Since joining Barcelona in 2024, Flick has delivered strong domestic success, winning two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups.
However, European success has so far eluded him at the Catalan club. Barcelona were eliminated by Atlético Madrid in this season’s Champions League quarter-finals, after last year’s dramatic semi-final exit against Inter Milan.
Despite that, Flick reaffirmed his ambition to bring European glory back to the club.
“Everyone dreams of the Champions League. We have tried and we will keep trying,” he said.
Before joining Barcelona, Flick enjoyed major success with FC Bayern Munich, where he won multiple trophies including the UEFA Champions League in 2020. He also previously served as assistant coach to Joachim Löw during Germany’s 2014 World Cup triumph.
