Chelsea have recalled forward David Fofana from his loan spell as the club and the player’s representatives prepare for a potential permanent transfer in the coming days or weeks.

The 21-year-old Ivorian joined Chelsea from Norwegian side Molde in January 2023 and has spent time out on loan to gain first-team experience. Details of the prospective move, including the destination club, have not yet been disclosed.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano’s post on X on Monday, “Chelsea recall David Datro Fofana from loan as he’s set for a new move in the upcoming days/weeks. Chelsea and Fofana’s camp are working on a permanent exit.”

The recall indicates that Chelsea are keen to oversee the next stage of Fofana’s career directly, ensuring a smooth transition to a club where he can continue his development.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Fofana has yet to make a significant impact on Chelsea’s first team. The club has prioritised his development through loan moves, giving him opportunities to gain regular senior-level playing time and experience.
