The Lagos State Government has expanded office accommodation for public servants by an additional 19,525 square metres as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency, enhance service delivery, and reduce spending on rented office spaces.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Dr. Adekunle Olayinka, disclosed this during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, marking the third year of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office alongside Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.
He explained that the expansion reflects the administration’s commitment to infrastructure-led growth as a strategy for economic development, job creation, and improved public service delivery across Lagos State.
According to him, the completion and commissioning of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administrative Complex and the Revenue House within the Alausa Secretariat have significantly increased office space for government workers while strengthening administrative efficiency.
Olayinka noted that the projects align with the THEMES+ Agenda and the Lagos State Development Plan 2052, which guide the state’s long-term development framework.
He added that the administration has continued to prioritise both the completion of inherited projects and the initiation of new infrastructure aimed at strengthening governance, improving public institutions, and stimulating socio-economic growth.
The Special Adviser also stated that the Office of Works serves as a technical consultant to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), ensuring effective planning and execution of strategic infrastructure projects across sectors.
He said the government’s sustained investment in infrastructure is designed to fulfil its social contract with residents while generating employment, boosting economic activity, and improving public service delivery.
Among key ongoing and completed projects highlighted were major investments in the health sector, including the 280-bed General Hospital in Ojo, the 150-bed Massey Children’s Hospital main building and multi-level car park, the 1,500-bed Psychiatric Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in Ketu-Ejinrin, and a hostel annexe at the Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando.
In the justice and security sectors, he listed renovations of magistrates’ courts, the Lagos State Judiciary Sheriff Warehouse in Ikorodu, the Police Community Relations Committee hall, upgrades at Alausa Barracks Police Station, and the reconstruction of the Lekki Ancient Town Divisional Police Station.
He further highlighted major education infrastructure developments, including new facilities at Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), a 460-seat lecture theatre in Epe, the Central Library at Lagos State University, and the remodelling of the University of Lagos main gate.
Olayinka said the government is also implementing a sustainable infrastructure management strategy focused on preserving and upgrading public assets to ensure long-term value and functionality.
He emphasized that this dual approach—maintenance of existing infrastructure and continuous rehabilitation of facilities—ensures efficient use of public investments and improved service delivery across the state.
