Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed confidence that the country will overcome its current security challenges, assuring citizens that President Bola Tinubu remains fully committed to restoring peace and safety across the nation.

She made the remarks on Saturday in Ado Ekiti during an engagement with traditional rulers as part of her one-day working visit to Ekiti State.

Describing incidents of kidnapping, banditry, and killings in parts of the country as “disheartening,” the First Lady said the Federal Government is actively implementing measures to strengthen internal security, though some of these operations cannot be publicly disclosed.

She noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working in collaboration with international partners, including the United States and other developed countries, to combat insecurity and dismantle criminal networks operating within Nigeria.

According to her, the administration remains committed to protecting lives and property through a combination of domestic security reforms and international cooperation.

“President Tinubu has entered into partnership with developed countries like the United States of America and others, and is taking internal security measures to smash those terrorising the country,” she said.

Mrs Tinubu acknowledged public concern over rising insecurity and called for collective patience, prayer, and national unity in addressing the challenges.

She assured that efforts were ongoing “round the clock” to restore stability, adding that the country would eventually overcome its security difficulties.

The First Lady also highlighted her Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that it has implemented several empowerment and education-focused programmes, including the establishment of a modern ICT centre at Ekiti State University.

She said the initiative has also provided financial support to thousands of traders and vulnerable citizens, including women, the elderly, and persons living with disabilities.

Traditional rulers at the event commended the First Lady for her interventions and expressed support for the administration’s policies, particularly efforts aimed at addressing economic and security challenges.

The Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu-Alagbado, praised the Federal Government’s efforts and called for stronger legal frameworks to tackle insecurity.

He urged the National Assembly to fast-track legislation on the creation of state police, arguing that localised policing would improve Nigeria’s capacity to respond to security threats.

Other traditional leaders also expressed support for the administration, while commending ongoing development and empowerment programmes under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

The visit was attended by senior government officials, including the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and other political and traditional leaders.

The First Lady reaffirmed the government’s commitment to national stability, insisting that Nigeria would ultimately prevail over its current security challenges through sustained cooperation and reform efforts.
