Abba Kabir Yusuf has submitted his nomination form to the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kano State.

The submission was confirmed in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, posted on his Facebook page on Friday.

According to the statement, Governor Yusuf was accompanied to the submission by prominent political figures including former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, and other dignitaries.

Speaking shortly after submitting his nomination form at Treasure Suites, Governor Yusuf described his re-election bid as a renewed commitment to public service in Kano State.

He pledged that his administration would expand urban renewal projects, including road construction, drainage systems, and market modernisation across the state.

Yusuf also emphasised rural development, promising increased investment in feeder roads, water supply, healthcare facilities, and schools in rural communities.

He further stated that agriculture and youth empowerment would remain key priorities, with job creation and economic inclusion forming central pillars of his agenda.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to improving education and healthcare delivery, while also stressing unity, peace, and inclusive governance in Kano State.

He added that his administration would continue working with stakeholders to attract federal projects under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Governor Yusuf also thanked residents of Kano for their continued support and pledged transparent and people-focused governance.

His political journey has seen significant shifts in recent years. He defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress on January 26, 2026, following internal disputes within his former party.

The defection was accompanied by lawmakers, local government officials, and other political stakeholders.

Following his return to the APC, party stakeholders in Kano unanimously endorsed him as the sole governorship candidate for the 2027 election, consolidating his position ahead of the race.
