The National Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) has successfully hosted the Abuja Green City Tour and Promotion of Sustainable Transport Systems in Nigeria, bringing together key stakeholders in the tourism and transport sectors.
The event, held on April 30, 2026, in Abuja, attracted tourism professionals, partners, sponsors, and guests, all united by a shared goal of advancing sustainable tourism and eco-friendly transport initiatives.
Speaking at the event, NATOP President, Bolaji Mustapha, described the tour as more than a sightseeing exercise. He said it served as a strategic platform to reposition Nigeria’s tourism narrative through environmental sustainability and collaboration.
Participants visited several notable locations across the capital, including the National Assembly Museum and Garki Palace, as well as selected religious centres and art galleries. The itinerary also featured a stop at BMT Gardens and a guided drive through key green areas within the city.
Mustapha noted that the initiative underscored the importance of integrating sustainable transport systems into tourism development while promoting eco-friendly destinations across Nigeria.
NATOP also expressed appreciation to its sponsors and partners for their support, reaffirming its commitment to collaboration in driving tourism growth and sustainability.
Stakeholders at the event emphasised the need for continuous efforts to promote Nigerian and African tourism through innovation, environmental consciousness, and strategic partnerships.
The Abuja Green City Tour is part of NATOP’s broader efforts to position Nigeria as a leading destination for sustainable tourism in Africa.
