Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has urged her colleagues in the film industry to prioritise action and results rather than endless opinions and online debates.

The actress shared the message on social media, encouraging creatives to adopt strategies that work best for them while allowing others to succeed in their own way.

According to her, 2026 should be about hard work and execution, not talk.

“Who made the rules? Nobody you gotta answer to.

2026 ain’t for talkers — it’s for doers.

Do what works for YOU.

Let others win their way.

You win yours. Period.

Her comments come amid an ongoing controversy over how Nigerian filmmakers promote their movies.

The debate started after filmmaker Kunle Afolayan said during the premiere of his film that he was not interested in earning ₦1 billion or ₦2 billion at the box office if he could not personally make at least ₦10 million from it.

He also criticised actors who dance on social media to promote their projects.

Reacting to his remarks, actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele dismissed the criticism, saying she was not responsible for anyone’s success or failure. She advised him not to allow jealousy cloud his judgment, noting that the entertainment industry is big enough for everyone to thrive.

Veteran actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde also shared her view, stating that she would not dance to promote her movies. She described such promotional tactics as unprofessional and maintained that a quality film should speak for itself.

However, she later posted a video of herself dancing while promoting her highest-grossing movie, drawing mixed reactions from fans online.

The differing opinions have continued to spark conversations about the best ways to market films in Nollywood.
