In line with its constitutional provisions, Nigeria’s leading travel trade professional body, the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), has officially notified its members of the timetable for zonal elections across the country, ahead of its forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The zonal elections form a critical pathway to NANTA’s national elections, as only elected zonal officers are eligible to contest positions on the National Executive Council. Officers elected at both zonal and national levels are entitled to serve a maximum of two terms of two years each, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees.

This year’s elections carry added significance as NANTA prepares to mark its golden jubilee, celebrating 50 years of existence. The milestone AGM and national elections are scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to the Chairman of the NANTA Elections Committee and Second National Deputy President, Dr Dagunduro Tukumbo, the zonal elections will commence in Lagos State on February 12, 2026. The Eastern Zone, with headquarters in Port Harcourt, will follow on February 19, while the Kano Zone election is slated for February 24. The Abuja Zone, covering the Federal Capital Territory, will hold its election on February 25, 2026.

The Western Zone will conclude the zonal election process with the validation of its new leadership on February 26, 2026. The zone will also host the national elections and the Annual General Meeting.

Dr Tukumbo assured members that the association is committed to conducting a transparent, credible and fair electoral process. He urged aspirants at both zonal and national levels to carefully study and strictly comply with the electoral code of conduct.

He noted that after five decades of existence, NANTA has evolved beyond electoral shortcomings and remains determined to keep the association above primordial and sectional interests.

Ibadan, Oyo State, will also host NANTA’s golden jubilee celebration, which is expected to be a landmark event at the International Conference Centre, Ibadan.

Meanwhile, the President of NANTA, Dr Yinka Folami, expressed excitement about the forthcoming AGM and elections, promising to unveil new breakthroughs and leadership visions that will shape the future of the association.

He called on all members to actively participate in the process and ensure that credible candidates who genuinely represent their interests are elected to serve the association.
