President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism and strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with global partners.
Speaking shortly before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) entered a closed-door session on Thursday, Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government remains determined to secure the country and restore peace across all regions.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism,” the President declared during the meeting held at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
The session marked the first FEC meeting since July.
Tinubu’s remarks came days after U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” a move the Federal Government described as a misrepresentation of the nation’s security realities.
In his first public reaction to the designation, Tinubu said his administration is working closely with international partners to strengthen national security, promote stability, and drive economic growth.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners,” he stated. “The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy. The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose.”
The President also assured citizens that Nigeria remains united and determined in its pursuit of peace and prosperity.
He commended members of his cabinet for their dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda and urged them to remain focused and united in implementing key government reforms.
