In a cordial response to the Court of Appeal’s decision, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed his humility and appreciation for the ruling, which affirmed the mandate given to him and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, by the people of Lagos State. The court’s decision validated the choice of Lagosians who exercised their right to vote during the election.
“With deep gratitude to the Almighty God, I humbly accept today’s Appeal Court verdict, with a sense of responsibility and a desire to continue with the giant strides of our administration so as to leave a great legacy for our people.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the significance of the judicial pronouncement, stating that it adds to his confidence in the country’s judicial system. He commended the thorough examination of all issues by the court, emphasizing that the ruling leaves no doubt as to the rightful winner of the election, echoing the sentiments expressed by the Lagos State Elections Petition Tribunal.
In his statement, the governor affirmed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s faith in the judicial process and assured that he and his deputy have met all constitutional requirements. Their focus now is on delivering democratic dividends to the people of Lagos State.
