Egypt has expressed readiness to host any meetings aimed at de-escalating the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, the country’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference in Cairo, Abdelatty stressed that Egypt’s mediation efforts continue in cooperation with Pakistan and Turkey. He urged a direct meeting between US and Iranian representatives, warning that opportunities for negotiation may be running out.
“We can end this war based on a win-win situation, not a zero-sum game,” Abdelatty said, highlighting the importance of constructive dialogue.
Iran has reportedly rejected a first ceasefire proposal from the US, though officials are said to be considering a meeting with US negotiators, potentially in Islamabad, Pakistan, in the coming week.
Egypt’s statement signals its willingness to act as a neutral facilitator and reinforces its support for ongoing US-led efforts to bring about a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
