Rev. Yinka Yusuf, Lead Pastor of the Lagos-based Household of Love Churches, has spoken candidly about what he described as years of betrayal, internal opposition, and personal attacks within the Nigerian Christian community. The cleric made the revelations during a sermon titled “It Is Not My Enemy,” delivered at his church on Sunday, February 1.

The sermon followed the recent collapse of his highly publicized Uyo Crusade, an evangelical project that Yusuf said had been carefully planned but ultimately frustrated by forces within the Church itself. Speaking emotionally from the pulpit, the pastor expressed deep disappointment with some Christian leaders and institutions, whom he accused of working against his ministry rather than supporting it.

According to Yusuf, certain members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) allegedly played key roles in frustrating his evangelical efforts over the years. He said the resistance he encountered was more painful because it came from fellow Christians, not external opponents.

“This is not about enemies outside the Church,” Yusuf told his congregation. “It is about betrayal from within, people who should know better and stand for the same gospel.”

Allegations and Personal Attacks

During the sermon, Yusuf also addressed allegations of extramarital affairs that have circulated about him on social media and blogs. He firmly denied the claims, describing them as false, malicious, and part of a broader attempt to damage his reputation and derail his ministry.

The pastor insisted that the accusations were fabricated to discredit him and weaken public confidence in his work. He urged church members and the wider Christian public to be cautious about unverified information shared online, warning that misinformation has become a powerful weapon against religious leaders.

Recalling Past Support

In a reflective moment, Yusuf recalled earlier days in his ministry when he enjoyed unexpected support from influential figures. He revealed that former Nigerian military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd.), partly sponsored one of his crusades in Minna, Niger State.

The Minna crusade, according to Yusuf, was a major success and demonstrated that his ministry once enjoyed goodwill and encouragement across religious and political lines. He contrasted that experience with the current challenges he faces, noting how attitudes toward his ministry have changed over time.

A Call for Reflection

Despite his grievances, Yusuf said his message was not driven by bitterness but by a desire for introspection within the Church. He called on Christian leaders to examine their actions and recommit themselves to unity, fairness, and the true spirit of the gospel.

The sermon has since generated conversations among church members and observers, particularly regarding the role of church politics, accountability, and the impact of public allegations on religious leaders in Nigeria.

As debates continue, Rev. Yinka Yusuf maintains that his focus remains on his calling, even in the face of opposition from within the faith community he serves.
