Easter: Governors Urge Nigerians to Embrace Unity, Peace, and Love

State leaders reflect on the message of Christ’s resurrection, encouraging citizens to show compassion, faith, and work for a better Nigeria.

As Christians around the world celebrate Easter, several Nigerian governors have called on citizens to embrace the values of unity, love, sacrifice, and peace, reflecting on the deeper meaning of Christ’s resurrection.

In his Easter message posted on X, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged residents to embrace unity and togetherness as a way of life. He encouraged citizens to positively impact the lives of those around them and contribute to the development of the state and country.

“Let us work together to impact the lives of those around us… while contributing positively to the development of our beloved Lagos State and Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Similarly, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun emphasized the virtues of selfless love, forgiveness, and humility. He encouraged Christians to “serve humanity with humility and grace” and trust in divine guidance for the future.

“This sacred season calls us to embody the spirit of Christ: to love selflessly, forgive freely, and serve humanity,” Abiodun said in his message.

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq reflected on the spiritual meaning of the season, urging believers to meditate on the triumph of Jesus Christ and the power of faith during the Holy Week.

“The triumph of Jesus Christ in the face of adversity should drive our belief in God and the endless possibilities that come with unshakeable faith,” he said.

In Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno described Easter as a season of unconditional love, sacrifice, and redemption. Quoting Matthew 20:28, he reminded citizens of Christ’s selfless service and pledged to prioritize people-centered development.

“This season also exemplifies selfless service… we are working diligently to elevate our state to higher levels of growth and development,” Eno said.

Meanwhile, Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas urged Nigerians to internalize the lessons of Easter, especially those centered on sacrifice, empathy, and moderation.

“Believers must strive to emulate our Lord Jesus Christ, who endured the pains of the cross as the sacrificial lamb,” Kefas stated in his goodwill message.

As Easter is celebrated nationwide, the unified call from governors across Nigeria remains clear: embrace love, faith, and collective responsibility to build a stronger, more united nation.
