Following President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit, critics have claimed that Nicholas Ukachukwu, the APC’s governorship candidate for Anambra State, lacks genuine connections within the party. Allegations suggest Ukachukwu used financial influence to secure the party’s ticket, despite being a political outsider.
Sources within the party alleged that President Tinubu is unfamiliar with Ukachukwu, who is also reportedly unknown to most APC governors. “President Tinubu’s visit exposed Nicholas Ukachukwu as a total stranger in APC that used money to hijack Anambra APC ticket,” a party insider stated. “As far as the November 8 governorship election is concerned, Ukachukwu is OYO — on his own.”
The statement further dismissed reports attributed to the APC Southeast leadership, urging the public to ignore what they described as false narratives. “If Governor Hope Uzodimma wants to speak about Anambra’s governorship election, he will do so personally or through his official aides, not through a so-called Southeast APC chairman. The general public should disregard the fabricated tissue of lies,” the source added.
The development intensifies the already tense build-up to the Anambra 2025 governorship election, as intra-party disagreements come to light.
