Tinubu Hails Nigerian Teen Girls for Winning Global Championship in UK

He also applauded their institutions of learning, saying their success proves the strength and potential of Nigeria’s education system in nurturing global talent.

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated three Nigerian students who emerged world champions at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the students as “shining examples of Nigeria’s future promise,” commending their outstanding performance in the international academic contest.

The champions—Nafisa Abdullahi Aminu (17), Rukayya Muhammad Fema (15), and Hadiza Kashim Kalli—represented Nigeria at the global competition, which drew thousands of participants from 69 countries.

Nafisa was named Overall Best in English Language Skills, Rukayya took home the title of Overall Best in Debate, while Hadiza received the Outstanding Talent Award (Gold Medal).

“President Tinubu commends these exceptional young Nigerians for the feat and affirms that the nation’s future is much brighter with many of its youth as repositories of excellence,” the statement read.

He also applauded their institutions of learning, saying their success proves the strength and potential of Nigeria’s education system in nurturing global talent.

Highlighting recent government reforms, President Tinubu noted that the Federal Government has increased investments in education and launched the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to eliminate financial barriers for indigent students.

He encouraged Nafisa, Rukayya, and Hadiza to “remain steadfast in their studies” and wished them continued success in their academic journeys.

The trio, students of Nigerian Tulip International College in Yobe State, were earlier celebrated by the Yobe State Government and other prominent Nigerians.

Former Minister of Communications, Prof Isa Ali Pantami, also lauded the students and called on the Federal Government to honour them with national recognition and material rewards, comparing their triumph to the achievements of Nigeria’s female sports teams.

“Let’s invite our daughter and the daughter of all Nigerians, along with her teacher, to the Presidency. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” Pantami wrote in a Facebook post.
