The Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a political support group of President Bola Tinubu, has commenced plans for a nationwide rice distribution following a directive from the President to support citizens observing the Ramadan and Lent seasons.
The initiative was disclosed on Saturday by the Director-General of the group and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, who said the exercise is aimed at fostering national unity and compassion during a spiritually significant period for both Muslims and Christians.
According to Uzodinma, the intervention reflects the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and shared national values. He noted that Ramadan and Lent are periods that emphasize sacrifice, charity, and care for others, making the initiative timely and impactful.
He further explained that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would leverage their grassroots network across the country to ensure effective distribution, reaching families in various communities.
“Through this distribution, families across Nigeria will experience the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period,” the statement read.
The initiative follows a similar effort during the Christmas season, when rice was distributed nationwide to support Nigerians during the festivities. The continuity of such programs, Uzodinma said, underscores the government’s dedication to providing relief during key religious and cultural moments.
The distribution is expected to cover both Christian and Muslim communities, reinforcing the President’s message of unity and collective support during periods of fasting and reflection.
