Nollywood actress Rosy Meurer has reacted to renewed backlash over her past comments concerning the failed marriage between Tonto Dikeh and Olakunle Churchill.
The controversy resurfaced hours after Meurer denied ever knowing or having a personal relationship with Tonto while she was married to Churchill.
Tonto and Churchill divorced in 2017 amid allegations of infidelity, with Meurer accused at the time of being involved with Churchill — claims she denied. In an earlier video, Meurer had described the couple as “family friends,” stating that they had hung out together.
Four years after the divorce, Meurer married Churchill, sparking fresh public debate and accusations that she had “snatched” her friend’s husband — an allegation she has consistently denied.
Addressing the issue again on Wednesday via Instagram, Meurer said her previous statement describing the ex-couple as family friends was made under pressure from her management team.
“You want me to hang on to the nonsense old video I made in fear due to the fact that I was so young and innocent,” she wrote.
“With all the pressure then, PR team will make you say many things even if you don’t feel it is right. Right now whatever I say is the real truth. I am now older and wiser. No PR team can force me to say what they believed is better than my truth.”
She maintained that past videos do not define her current reality and insisted she was compelled to make certain statements at the time.
As of press time, neither Tonto Dikeh nor Olakunle Churchill had publicly responded to Meurer’s latest remarks.
