The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three armed robbery suspects in Awarasi Village, Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, recovering a stolen tricycle from them.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Tuesday, noting that the suspects were apprehended on Monday, September 21, 2025.
Incident and Arrest
According to the command, the operation followed a distress call reporting that a commercial tricycle operator was attacked at Isuaniocha Bridge, Awka North LGA. Armed men allegedly dispossessed the victim of his yellow tricycle with registration number NZM 92 YH.
Ikenga said police operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad mobilized quickly to the scene, rescuing the victim, who was rushed to the hospital and is currently responding to treatment.
Using technology-guided intelligence, the police traced the suspects to Awarasi Village, where they attempted to escape but were given a hot chase and arrested.

Ikenga added that investigations are ongoing to uncover additional criminal links, and the suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of the inquiry.
