Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has charged his teammates to give their all when Nigeria begin their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign against Tanzania on Tuesday.
Osimhen also urged the squad, led by head coach Eric Chelle, to approach every match with a winning mentality as they set their sights on reaching — and winning — the AFCON final in Morocco.
“This AFCON is an opportunity for us to do well and try to make sure that we win the tournament,” Osimhen told Pooja Media.
“Of course, it is not going to be easy; we have to fight for every game, fight for every ball.
“We have to try to win every game and see if we can get to the final and win it,” he added.
Nigeria head into the tournament determined to go one step further after finishing runners-up at the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles fell short in the final.
Osimhen, who played a key role in Nigeria’s run to the final in the previous edition, will be hoping to inspire the team again as they chase a fourth continental title on Moroccan soil.
The Super Eagles’ opening clash against Tanzania is expected to test their readiness and ambition as they begin another quest for African football’s biggest prize.
