The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said that believers can only access God’s “divine insurance” by paying what he described as a spiritual premium.
Adeboye made the statement on Sunday, February 1, while preaching at the church’s headquarters in Lagos.
According to the cleric, the principle behind God’s divine protection and provision is rooted in obedience to God’s commands.
“Let nobody deceive you. The summary of all Jesus’ teachings is that nothing goes for nothing,” Adeboye said. “You have to pay your premium if you want God’s divine cover. Jesus says, ‘Give, and it shall be given to you.’ Salvation is free because Jesus paid for it.”
What Adeboye Means by ‘Premium’
Adeboye explained that the “premium” is complete adherence to God’s principles as outlined in the Bible, particularly in Deuteronomy 28.
“The premium is to obey God’s command, which is doing what He asked you to do,” he said. “You cannot access that insurance cover if you’re not paying your premium.”
God’s Insurance vs Earthly Policies
While acknowledging the existence of numerous insurance companies with different policies, Adeboye said God’s coverage is unique and beyond what any human institution can offer.
“There is no insurance for sleep. I have not seen such,” he noted. “God is the only one that can give you sleep.”
He referenced Psalm 23 and Psalm 91 as what he described as God’s insurance templates, stressing that divine insurance covers not just provision but also peace and rest.
“Not only does He provide for you, He gives you cover for sleep,” he added.
Insurance for Satisfaction, Wisdom, and the Afterlife
Adeboye also said God’s insurance policy includes satisfaction, warning that material wealth does not guarantee contentment.
“You can have everything and still not be satisfied,” he said, citing examples of wealthy individuals who reportedly struggled with unusual and self-destructive behaviors.
He further stated that there is no secular insurance for good counsel, emphasizing that God provides wisdom to those who ask.
“If you need wisdom, you just ask. He has insurance for everything you need,” he said.
According to Adeboye, divine insurance extends beyond earthly life, offering believers assurance in the life to come.
“The world has no insurance policy for the world to come,” he said. “But God guarantees that as soon as you surrender to the Lord Jesus, according to John 3:16.”
A Final Warning
Adeboye concluded by warning that God’s divine insurance remains valid only as long as a believer remains in Christ and continues to live in obedience.
