The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) witnessed an impressive turnout over the weekend as it hosted a massive sensitization rally to encourage voter registration and educate members on security roles within the state.
Held at the Arca Santa Arena in Ilorin, the event drew a cross-section of party leaders, lawmakers, and grassroots mobilizers, all unified by one mission — to strengthen democracy through civic engagement and secure the future of the state.
Mobilizing for Voter Power
In his keynote address, State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, emphasized the critical role of voter registration in consolidating the party’s dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“As APC faithful, your mobilization for voter registration will amplify the gains of our administration, ensuring our victory in 2027,” he said.
“If you don’t have a voter card, you can’t be a party member. Let us go forth, register voters, and secure a brighter future.”
Fagbemi challenged every member to register at least 20 new voters, calling it a civic responsibility and a sign of gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for their continued developmental strides.
A High-Level Gathering
The event brought together top dignitaries including:
- Hon. Ahmed Saba, Rep. for Edu/Patigi/Moro Federal Constituency
- Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, Speaker, Kwara House of Assembly
- Prof Mamman Saba Jibril, Secretary to the State Government
- Hon. Gbenga Makanjuola, former PDP chieftain and 2019 Deputy Governorship candidate
- Prof Abdulganiyu Ambali, KWASU Governing Council Chairman
- Prof Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, Vice Chancellor, KWASU
- Prof Moshood Mahmud Jimba, Deputy Vice Chancellor
Focus on Security and Good Governance
Beyond voter registration, the APC also used the platform to sensitize attendees on the state’s security strategy, emphasizing the need for collaboration between citizens and government. Fagbemi credited the party’s continued success to Governor AbdulRazaq’s record of good governance, including investments in:
- Infrastructure
- Education
- Health care
- Agriculture
- Digital economy
- Social protection
“Our achievements are not accidental. They are the result of prudent leadership and dedication to the welfare of our people,” he said.
Conclusion
The event not only reinforced the APC’s grassroots presence in Kwara, but also underscored its vision for a secure, participatory democracy. With the 2027 elections on the horizon, the message is clear: mobilize, register, and protect the future.
