Inter Miami forward Leo Messi made a surprise visit to the newly renamed Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday night, revisiting the stadium where he spent the most celebrated years of his career.
According to a video posted on Fabrizio Romano’s X account on Monday, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner shared an emotional message afterwards:
“Last night I returned to a place that I miss with my soul. A place where I was immensely happy.”
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner also added:
“I hope one day I can come back, and not just to say goodbye as a player, as I could never do.”
Messi’s visit has sparked a wave of nostalgia among fans, recalling the era when he led FC Barcelona to numerous domestic and European triumphs. The forward left the club in 2021 after over 20 years, leaving behind a legacy filled with records, trophies, and unforgettable moments.
The Spotify Camp Nou, which opened earlier this year under its new sponsorship, remains a place of deep significance for Messi. His surprise visit is widely seen as a poignant reminder of the connection between the player and the club.
Fans flooded social media with reactions, calling Messi’s gesture a “touching return” and “a love letter to Barcelona.”
