Lagos APC Stakeholders Endorse President Tinubu for Second Term in 2027

The motion for President Tinubu’s re-election was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by Obasa. The stakeholders said Tinubu’s performance in his first two years in office justified another term.

Stakeholders of the Lagos State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seek re-election in 2027, describing his leadership as visionary and transformative.

The decision was reached on Tuesday during the APC Stakeholders Forum 2025, held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event drew thousands of party chieftains, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode; Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat; his wife, Oluremi Hamzat; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mudashiru Obasa; members of the APC National and State Working Committees; lawmakers; council chairmen; and representatives of traditional, religious, youth, and women groups.

The motion for President Tinubu’s re-election was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by Obasa. The stakeholders said Tinubu’s performance in his first two years in office justified another term.

In his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that President Tinubu had fulfilled many of his campaign promises, noting that the call for his continuation in office reflected the collective will of Lagos APC members.

“Our president, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was once the 12th Governor of Lagos State. All our stakeholders here have spoken with one voice that he deserves a second term in 2027,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Dr Hamzat, in his remarks, said the President’s reforms were driving national transformation. He emphasized the need for continuity to sustain progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Under Asiwaju Tinubu, we have witnessed courageous and visionary leadership. His policies are fostering economic recovery and productive governance. Continuity will ensure greater prosperity for Nigerians,” Hamzat added.

Speaking on the achievements of the Sanwo-Olu administration, Hamzat highlighted the impact of the THEMES+ Agenda, noting that Lagos had become a model for good governance in Nigeria.

“Lagos stands tall today as a model of excellence and a beacon of progress. Our successes are built on planning, consistency, and execution,” he said.

Former Governor Babatunde Fashola delivered a lecture on Voter Apathy and the Sanctity of Election in Nigeria’s Budding Democracy, urging party members to mobilise voters, especially the youth, ahead of future elections.

He said, “Political participation is driven by enthusiasm. With the renewed hope we now experience, we can reignite enthusiasm and ensure greater voter turnout for our party.”

Other speakers, including federal cabinet members and National Assembly representatives, listed President Tinubu’s achievements in various sectors since assuming office on May 29, 2023, reaffirming the APC’s unity and readiness for the 2027 general elections.
