INEC Rejects Recall Petition Against Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dismisses the recall petition, citing non-compliance with constitutional requirements.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the petition seeking the recall of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has failed to meet the necessary constitutional requirements.

In a post shared on its official X page on Thursday, INEC confirmed that the recall petition did not satisfy the provisions of Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended),” the commission stated.

This decision effectively dismisses the effort to recall Akpoti-Uduaghan, ensuring that she remains the duly elected representative for the district. More details on the matter are expected to follow shortly.
