Gary Neville Names Three Premier League Title Contenders After Manchester City’s Win Over Liverpool

Manchester United legend believes City, Arsenal, and Liverpool are still in the race for the title

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has identified three teams he believes can still win the Premier League title this season.

Neville made the comments following Manchester City’s 3-0 thrashing of Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, a match marking Pep Guardiola’s 1000th game as a manager.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring after earlier missing a penalty, while Virgil van Dijk had a header disallowed for offside that would have equalized for Liverpool. Nico Gonzalez made it 2-0 before half-time, and Jeremy Doku sealed the win with a brilliant third goal.

The defeat leaves Liverpool with 5 losses in 11 games, placing them 8th in the Premier League table and 8 points behind leaders Arsenal.

Neville highlighted Manchester City as the main challengers to Arsenal’s title hopes. Speaking on the Sky Sports podcast, he said:

“They [Man City] are four points off Arsenal, they’ve got experience and they’ve got players who have been around the block and know how to win titles. He will just want to hang on Mikel Arteta’s shoulder by March because he’s the one you don’t want near you. I thought the biggest challenger [to title favourites Arsenal] would be Liverpool, I thought Man City were too inconsistent, but it looks like I was badly wrong.”

When asked about Liverpool’s chances, Neville added:

“I’m going to say yes.”

Historically, Manchester City have come from behind twice to overtake Arsenal for the title, while Liverpool were last season’s champions, finishing ahead of Mikel Arteta’s side, who ended second.
