FG Defends Tinubu’s Development Agenda, Says Projects Equitably Distributed Nationwide

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is building national infrastructure, not local trophies.

The Federal Government has dismissed allegations of lopsided development under President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the administration has upheld fairness, justice, and equity in the distribution of projects, appointments, and opportunities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, in a weekend statement, stressed that the administration had demonstrated “uncommon commitment” to inclusivity and balanced growth since taking office.

According to him, flagship projects such as the Lagos–Calabar coastal highway in the south and the Sokoto–Badagry superhighway in the north reflect the government’s commitment to even development. He added that massive interventions are ongoing in roads, rail, power, and healthcare nationwide.

Idris revealed that the federal government has secured N150 billion and N100 billion for light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna, alongside metroline projects in Lagos and Ogun. The eastern corridor rail line from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri is also being rehabilitated, while over 1,000 primary health care centres are undergoing upgrades.

Citing data, the minister disclosed that the northwest has so far received the largest allocation of capital projects worth N5.97 trillion (over 40% of approvals). The south-south followed with N2.41 trillion; north central, N1.13 trillion; southwest (excluding Lagos), N604 billion; southeast, N407 billion; and northeast, N400 billion.

He listed ongoing legacy projects under Tinubu to include the Lagos–Calabar coastal highway (750 km), Sokoto–Badagry superhighway (1,068 km), Trans-Sahara highway (465 km), and the redesigned Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road (439 km). Overall, 52% of federal road projects are in the north, while 48% are in the south.

Other notable projects cited include the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano dualisation, BUA tax credit roads, 2nd Niger Bridge access roads, East–West Road, Bodo–Bonny Road, major bridge rehabilitations, and the AKK Gas Project.

On federal appointments, Idris stressed that inclusivity remains central to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, pointing to the creation of five new regional development commissions and the federal ministry of livestock development as proof of balanced governance.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is building national infrastructure, not local trophies. His leadership is inclusive, his vision unifying, and his commitment to equity and justice unwavering. Nigerians can rest assured that under his watch, no part of this country will be left behind,” he said.
