The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that beginning September 29, 2025, all payments at its revenue points—including airport access gates, car parks, and VIP lounges—will be strictly cashless.
In a statement on Friday, FAAN said the initiative, tagged “Operation Go Cashless”, is being implemented in partnership with Paystack to provide safe, transparent, and modern payment systems across Nigeria’s airports.
According to the management, the first phase of the rollout will begin at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, before extending nationwide.
“Effective September 29, all payments at FAAN’s revenue points will go cashless, meaning cash collection will be phased out. Travelers and airport users will now enjoy faster and more seamless services using secure contactless payment options,” the statement read.
Passengers will be able to obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at airport access gates in Lagos and Abuja. In addition, trained brand ambassadors will be stationed across terminals to assist travelers with onboarding, provide demonstrations, and answer questions.
FAAN explained that the move is part of efforts to align Nigeria’s airports with global digital trends, enhance efficiency, and improve revenue assurance while delivering a better customer experience.
