Ethiopian Airlines Wins Dual Honors for Food and Cabin Innovation at 2025 Global Aviation Awards

Africa’s top airline clinches catering and cabin design awards in Hamburg, reinforcing global leadership in inflight service excellence.

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest and most decorated airline, has added two prestigious international accolades to its impressive portfolio at the 2025 PAX Readership and Onboard Hospitality Awards held in Hamburg, Germany.

The carrier secured the ‘Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier – Africa’ award for the third time, acknowledging its exceptional onboard catering service. In addition, Ethiopian Airlines’ state-of-the-art A350-1000 cabin was named the Bronze Winner of the ‘Cabin Concept of the Year 2025’, celebrating its commitment to blending modern design, technology, and Ethiopian hospitality.

Group CEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew expressed gratitude for the honors, stating:
“These awards are testaments to our commitment to deliver a world-class travel experience inspired by the hospitality culture of Ethiopia and the innovative technologies of the future.”

The airline’s catering facility in Addis Ababa, one of Africa’s largest, can produce up to 100,000 meals daily and serves both Ethiopian and international carriers, including VVIP and charter flights. With internationally trained chefs and a certified Halal kitchen, the service maintains a high global standard.

Ethiopian’s A350-1000 cabin concept features enhanced comfort with larger windows, noise-reduction design, Bluetooth-enabled 4K in-flight entertainment (IFE) displays, real-time exterior camera views, fast-charging USB-C ports, and eco-conscious amenity kits with bamboo toothbrushes and sleep aids.
These wins further solidify Ethiopian Airlines’ standing as a global leader in aviation excellence, setting a benchmark for innovation and service in Africa and beyond.
