Edo PDP Declares Three Days of Mourning for Late Pioneer Chairman Solomon Aguele

A condolence register has also been opened at the PDP Secretariat in Benin City to allow members, leaders, and the public to pay their respects.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has declared three days of mourning in honour of its late pioneer Chairman, Chief Solomon Aguele. The mourning period takes effect from Thursday, August 21, 2025.

In a statement issued in Benin City, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Hon. Tony Aziegbemi, announced the suspension of all political activities and engagements of the party across the state during the mourning period.

A condolence register has also been opened at the PDP Secretariat in Benin City to allow members, leaders, and the public to pay their respects.

Hon. Aziegbemi described Aguele as a unifying leader whose impact on the growth of the party remains indelible.

“The Edo PDP family remains united in honouring the legacy of Chief Solomon Aguele, whose leadership and contributions to the growth of our party will never be forgotten,” he said.

Chief Solomon Aguele is remembered for his pioneering role in building the PDP structure in Edo State, laying the foundation for the party’s continued relevance in the state’s political landscape.
