Easter Is the Essence of Christianity – Archbishop Aladekugbe Declares in 2025 Message

Ibadan Archbishop emphasizes the resurrection of Christ as the core of Christian faith and hope.

The Most Rev. Dr Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe, Archbishop of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, has declared that Easter is the very foundation of the Christian faith.

Delivering his 2025 Easter message on Sunday, April 20, through the Diocesan Communicator, Chief Olugbemiga Ayoade, the Archbishop described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the “focal point of Christianity.”

“Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the focal point of Christianity. It is the essence of Christianity. If we take away resurrection from Christianity, our service is in vain,” he said.

Archbishop Aladekugbe explained that Christ’s resurrection is what sets Him apart from other prophets. It brings salvation, forgiveness, and the hope of eternal life, which he said are essential gifts for all believers.

He extended his heartfelt congratulations to Christians worldwide celebrating Easter in 2025 and offered a prayer: “All that was dead in everyone’s life will be restored in Jesus’ mighty name.”

The Archbishop reaffirmed that through Christ’s victory over death, believers are assured of eternal life, urging Christians to reflect on the power and promise of the resurrection in their daily lives.
