The Nigerian government has announced the launch of a direct flight service from Algiers to Abuja. The service will begin on April 6, 2025. This flight, made possible by the Bilateral Air Services Agreement between Nigeria and Algeria, marks a key step in improving relations between the two countries.
Air Algérie, Algeria’s national airline, will operate the new route with a Boeing 737. The service will enhance connectivity and promote tourism, trade, and investment between Nigeria and Algeria.
Kimiebi Ebienfa, acting spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared the news on Wednesday. The Ministry highlighted that this service will also make travel between Algeria and Europe more affordable for Nigerians. Algeria’s close proximity to Europe makes it a convenient gateway for Nigerian travelers.
The direct flights underscore the success of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement, strengthening Nigeria’s role as a regional hub for business, tourism, and transit. With improved connectivity, this new route will open more travel opportunities and support both countries’ economic growth.
