Portugal and Al Nassr striker, Cristiano Ronaldo, is on the verge of achieving a football milestone no male player has ever reached — 1,000 career goals.
According to Sky Sports, following his recent brace against Hungary in the World Cup qualifiers, the Portuguese superstar has now scored a remarkable 948 goals across club and international competitions — 805 at club level and 143 for Portugal.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also became the all-time leading scorer in World Cup qualifying history, surpassing Carlos Ruiz (39 goals), while Lionel Messi sits third with 36 goals.
Despite turning 40 in February, Ronaldo continues to post elite-level numbers, both domestically and internationally. Playing in Saudi Arabia’s top flight with Al Nassr, he has scored 104 goals in 117 appearances across four seasons.
In 2025 alone, he has already netted 32 goals for club and country, maintaining the blistering consistency that has defined his two-decade-long career. Since 2010, Ronaldo has averaged more than 50 goals per calendar year, peaking in 2013 with 69 goals, the same year he won the Ballon d’Or.
His goal tally has dipped below 39 in only one calendar year in the past fifteen years — a testament to his longevity, fitness, and relentless drive.
With Portugal poised to qualify for next summer’s World Cup and two years remaining on his Al Nassr contract, projections suggest Ronaldo could become the first player in football history to reach the 1,000-goal mark by October 2026 if he maintains his current scoring rate.
