Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has declared Tuesday, February 3, a work-free day for civil servants in both the public and private sectors as part of activities marking the state’s golden jubilee anniversary.
The declaration was contained in a press release issued on Tuesday by the governor’s media aide, Mukhtar Gidado.
According to the statement, Governor Mohammed described the 50th anniversary as an important moment for reflection on Bauchi State’s journey so far, celebration of its achievements, and a renewed commitment to development, peace, and good governance.
The governor called on residents of the state to use the occasion to offer prayers for continued peace, progress, and prosperity.
As part of the jubilee activities, Mohammed directed all residents to plant at least one tree, a move aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and combating desertification in the state.
He further stressed the need for responsible celebrations, peaceful conduct, and a sense of collective responsibility among citizens.
While declaring the work-free day, the governor clarified that essential services are exempted from the directive. He also invited all residents to actively participate in the golden jubilee celebrations and contribute to making the event memorable.
