Barcelona to Carefully Manage Lamine Yamal’s Minutes Amid Injury Concerns

Coach Hansi Flick says the club will limit Yamal’s playing time to prevent pubalgia relapse and sustain long-term fitness.

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal will be carefully managed in the coming weeks as the club looks to prevent relapses from pubalgia and help the teenager regain full fitness.

The 18-year-old has shown signs of improvement, notably scoring and impressing with his runs and dribbles against Elche, but coach Hansi Flick insists that his recovery must be handled with caution.

“We have to manage his injury. He has to train, receive treatment… I can’t say the injury is gone, it comes and goes. And it must be managed,” Flick said after the match.

As part of his recovery plan, Yamal will not play every match in full. Over the past four games, he has only completed one — the Clasico against Real Madrid — and was substituted early against Girona, Olympiacos, and Elche.

Barcelona’s medical and technical teams believe that limiting his minutes will be crucial to avoiding setbacks and ensuring long-term consistency.

The club is confident that Yamal supports this approach, understanding the importance of full recovery before returning to peak form. In addition, Barcelona may reduce his public appearances to support both his physical and mental well-being.

Despite the adjustments, Yamal will continue full training, with his progress closely monitored by the club’s staff as they aim to bring him back to his best competitive level.
