Mohammed Idris has stated that the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention 2026 will serve as a strong demonstration of unity, discipline, and collective commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

Idris made the remarks on Monday in Abuja during the inauguration of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee for the convention. He serves as Co-Chairman of the subcommittee and described the convention as a major milestone for the ruling party to deepen internal democracy and reinforce its vision of a united, prosperous, and progressive Nigeria.

“The upcoming national convention provides the party with an opportunity to demonstrate unity, discipline, and a shared commitment to national progress,” Idris said.

Speaking virtually from the United Kingdom, the minister highlighted ongoing reforms by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which he said are designed to reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term development. He reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to advancing the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, central to the government’s development strategy.

Idris stressed the critical role of effective communication in ensuring the success of major political events such as the national convention. He explained that the Media and Publicity Subcommittee’s responsibilities extend beyond routine publicity to include accurate information dissemination, transparency, and strong media engagement throughout the event.

Key tasks assigned to the subcommittee, according to Idris, include content creation, media relations, media planning and buying, coordination with other subcommittees on media-related activities, report writing and documentation, media monitoring, and performance evaluation across print and broadcast platforms.

He urged members to approach their work with professionalism and creativity, noting that effective use of media platforms would ensure broad and positive coverage of the convention while maintaining credibility and integrity.

“I encourage members to approach this assignment with utmost professionalism, creativity, and a strong sense of duty. By leveraging media platforms within our reach, we must ensure that the convention is widely and positively covered while upholding the highest standards of credibility and integrity,” Idris said.

The minister congratulated subcommittee members on their appointment and expressed confidence that their expertise would contribute significantly to the successful organisation and communication of the convention, scheduled to hold from March 25 to March 28, 2026.
