Nigeria’s Golden Arrows, Friday, defeated Benin Republic 38-20 and won the bronze medal in the handball third place of the 13th African Games in Ghana.
The Coach Rafiu Salami’s men, who lost to DR Congo in the semi final which cut short theo dream of a gold medal, knew they must defeat Benin Republic to finish on the podium for the first time since the Abuja 2003 Games and they did so in style
They had less turnovers, scored more from the wings and defended better to earn a well deserved victory over Benin Republic.
Thus, Nigeria wins another bronze medal in Handball Male category at the Africa Games since they last did in 2003 when the Games was hosted in Abuja.
They now have four Handball medals in the Africa Games following their bronze medals in Cairo 91, Harare 95, Abuja 2003 and now in Ghana 2024.
