38 Abducted Worshippers Safely Return to Eruku After Successful Rescue

Community celebrates as abductees reunited with families following swift government-led operation

In a joyous homecoming, 38 worshippers abducted by gunmen have safely returned to their hometown of Eruku in Kwara State following a successful rescue operation.

According to a press statement from Prince Dada Sunday, Chief Press Secretary to the Ekiti Local Government Council Chairman, the abductees were rescued through coordinated efforts by President Bola Tinubu, Kwara State Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, and the Office of the National Security Adviser.

The worshippers arrived in Eruku at approximately 6:30 pm on Tuesday, where they were warmly welcomed by family members and community well-wishers.

Following their arrival, the rescued individuals were handed over to the Executive Chairman of Ekiti Local Government Council, Honourable Awelewa Olawale Gabriel, in Ilorin by Governor AbdulRasaq, marking a triumphant conclusion to their ordeal.

Prince Dada Sunday described the handover as a testament to the tireless efforts of government officials and security agencies involved in the mission.

Expressing his heartfelt appreciation, Honourable Awelewa commended President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRasaq, the National Security Adviser, and all participating security agencies for their prompt response. He also highlighted the comprehensive medical care and provisions provided to the abductees following their rescue.

“We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the lives and property of our people are protected through a robust security network across the 10 wards,” Awelewa assured residents.

The Owa of Eruku also praised the rescue operation, thanking all involved and describing the worshippers’ return as a testament to the power of collective efforts in safeguarding citizens’ safety and well-being.
