Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has named Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris as his Premier League manager of the season, ahead of notable contenders Mikel Arteta of Arsenal and Pep Guardiola of Manchester City.
Rooney praised Le Bris following Sunderland’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at the weekend, highlighting the French coach’s tactical acumen.
“Sunderland have changed tactically as well,” Rooney said on his BBC podcast. “I think he was an analyst coach at his previous job and he’s gone and got Sunderland promoted, which was incredible. If you are choosing manager of the season right now, he would have to be up there. I would probably choose him over any other manager at the minute.”
Sunderland currently sit 7th on the Premier League table after their latest win against Newcastle, reflecting the impact of Le Bris’ leadership in transforming the team’s performance this season.
