Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has shared a rare and emotional insight into the challenges of living in the spotlight, admitting that fame has placed limits on his personal life and freedom.
In a heartfelt interview posted on Monday via X (formerly Twitter) by Instablog, the Napoli forward recalled how public attention disrupted a special moment with his newborn daughter during her first outing in Italy.
“I remember when I had my daughter and I wanted to take her somewhere with my family when they came to visit us in Italy. I couldn’t do much with my daughter… I had to give her to my sister while I was just taking pictures, making videos and everything,” Osimhen said.
The 26-year-old footballer, widely celebrated for his exploits on the pitch, expressed how fame has become more of a burden than a blessing in his daily life.
“Fame is boring. Sometimes you want to go outside, and you cannot do a lot of things,” he lamented.
Despite his global recognition, Osimhen emphasized his deep connection to his roots and his preference for staying grounded.
“I just like to be around these people. I just like to stay close to them… This is how I was born, so for me, it’s just natural.”
He also credited his older brother as a guiding force in his life, helping him navigate the complexities of success and public scrutiny.
“One of the few lessons that I’ve also learned—my elder brother is there to guide my footsteps, which is very important.”
Even with the presence of security around him, Osimhen said he still finds comfort among ordinary people.
“If I have my security and they are strapped, for me, I’m good. I can be among these people. I don’t care. This is my life. This is how I live.”
Osimhen’s openness has resonated with fans across the world, sparking conversations about the emotional toll of celebrity life, especially for athletes who often appear invincible in the public eye.
