US Lawmaker Urges Sarah Ferguson to Testify in Jeffrey Epstein Probe

Congressman seeks details on Ferguson’s alleged ties to Epstein and possible knowledge of Prince Andrew’s links to the late financier

A United States lawmaker has formally requested that Sarah Ferguson provide testimony regarding her alleged connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein as part of an ongoing congressional investigation.

The request was made by Suhas Subramanyam, a member of the U.S. House Oversight Committee, who urged the former Duchess of York to share information about her “close personal and business ties” with Epstein.

In a letter sent on Thursday, the congressman also asked Ferguson to disclose any knowledge she might have regarding the involvement of her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, commonly known as Prince Andrew, in Epstein’s activities.

The request marks the most direct pressure on Ferguson to testify since the Epstein scandal first emerged.

Ferguson’s representatives have not yet publicly commented on the request, while Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing connected to Epstein.

Subramanyam’s letter follows the release of millions of pages of documents earlier this year by the U.S. Department of Justice related to Epstein’s network and activities.

According to the congressman, the newly released files highlight Ferguson’s ties to the American financier and suggest she may possess information relevant to the investigation.

“As the committee seeks justice for the survivors of Mr Epstein’s criminal enterprise and transparency for the American public, I respectfully request your cooperation with the committee’s investigation,” Subramanyam wrote.

The letter cited an email from a person identified as “Sarah” describing Epstein as “a legend” after his 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

The message reportedly included the words: “I am at your service. Just marry me.”

Other emails referenced in the documents suggest Ferguson may have approached Epstein for financial assistance during periods of personal difficulty.

Subramanyam also asked Ferguson to clarify whether she had knowledge of any involvement by Prince Andrew in Epstein’s operations.

“While you officially divorced former Prince Andrew in 1996, the committee is interested in learning more about any knowledge of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s involvement in Mr Epstein’s operations,” the letter stated.

The lawmaker has given Ferguson two weeks to respond, setting a deadline of April 9, 2026.

Despite the request, there is currently no legal mechanism that would compel Ferguson to testify before the U.S. Congress.

The renewed scrutiny follows revelations in the recently released documents suggesting that Ferguson maintained social contact with Epstein even after his conviction.

In one message from 2009, she reportedly described Epstein as “the brother I have always wished for.”

The emails also suggest she contacted Epstein while he was serving time in prison and later met him for lunch in Miami shortly after his release.

Being mentioned in the Epstein files does not automatically indicate wrongdoing, but the documents have raised fresh questions about Ferguson’s relationship with the late financier.

Calls for her to cooperate with investigators have also been echoed by other U.S. lawmakers, including Melanie Stansbury, who urged individuals with relevant information about Epstein’s network to assist investigators.

Meanwhile, the family of prominent Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre has also called on Ferguson to testify.

A representative for Giuffre’s brother, Sky Roberts, said the family believes the former Duchess of York should travel to the United States to answer questions.

“If Ferguson knows anything, she should testify in the United States immediately,” the representative said.

The controversy has already affected Ferguson’s public standing. Several charities have distanced themselves from her in recent months due to her links to Epstein.

In October, she also lost her duchess title after Prince Andrew relinquished his title of Duke of York amid continued scrutiny over his own connections to Epstein.

More recently, Ferguson was stripped of the honorary Freedom of the City of York, an honour she received in 1987 following her marriage to Prince Andrew.

City councillors voted unanimously to revoke the award at an extraordinary council meeting, marking another setback in the ongoing fallout from the Epstein scandal.
