The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced a temporary suspension of proposed military strikes on Iran following what he described as “very good and productive talks” between both nations.
In a statement shared on his platform, Truth Social, Trump revealed that discussions between Washington and Tehran over the past two days had been positive and focused on resolving ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
According to the US leader, the decision to halt the planned attacks was influenced by the tone and progress of the negotiations, which are expected to continue throughout the week.
“Based on the tenor and tone of the talks, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period,” Trump stated.
He added that the suspension remains conditional, depending on the outcome of the ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a “complete and total resolution” of hostilities in the region.
The development signals a potential shift toward diplomacy after heightened tensions and threats of military action between the two countries. Observers say the coming days will be critical in determining whether the talks can lead to a lasting agreement.
