Donald Trump, President of the United States, stated on Tuesday that global oil prices would fall dramatically once the US withdraws from Iran.

During an interview, a reporter asked Trump how he planned to reduce oil prices. He responded, “All I have to do is leave Iran and we’ll be doing that very soon,” adding that prices would begin to drop quickly.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking on Fox News, said the US relies very little on the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that nations worldwide should take responsibility to ensure the smooth flow of oil and gas exports.

“We don’t rely much on the strait. So if, in fact, Iran decides to set up a toll, or if they decide to illegally control the Strait of Hormuz, or try to do something like that, I imagine that would be the president’s decision whether he wants to help or not. But this is a problem for the world,” Rubio said.

He added that countries around the world should take action and clearly state that certain situations are unacceptable, noting that the US has encouraged global coordination on this issue.

Earlier on Tuesday, President Trump also told reporters that the US would not remain in Iran for more than “three weeks and a few days,” reiterating his intention to limit American involvement in the region.

The remarks come amid rising concerns over oil market stability and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with Iran playing a key role in global energy supply chains.
