Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, has recorded another major milestone as her latest movie, Oversabi Aunty, has been announced as the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in West Africa.
The feat was achieved within just 18 days of the movie’s release in cinemas, with box office earnings crossing the N700 million mark. The announcement was made on Monday by the film’s official distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, via its Instagram page.
According to the post, Oversabi Aunty has grossed N711.5 million, making it the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film ever in West Africa and the second highest-grossing film of the weekend.
The post read, “West Africa, you showed up and showed out in an Oversabi way. Thank you for the love. In just 18 days, Oversabi Aunty grossed N711.5M, making it the 4th highest Nollywood film of all time in West Africa. Thank you to everyone for the love and support so far. This win is for all of us.”
The movie’s success has seen it displace Funke Akindele’s Battle on Buka Street and Omo Ghetto: The Saga, which were released in 2022 and 2020 and grossed over N660 million and N630 million respectively at the box office.
Earlier box office reports also revealed that Oversabi Aunty had grossed over N380 million within just 11 days of its cinema release, signaling strong audience reception and sustained momentum.
The latest achievement further cements Toyin Abraham’s position as one of Nollywood’s most commercially successful filmmakers in recent years.
