President Bola Tinubu on Monday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining ongoing economic reforms, with a stronger focus on inclusion and citizen empowerment to drive national prosperity.
Speaking during a one-day official visit to Yola, Adamawa State, Bola Tinubu said the reforms were steadily delivering results across the country, particularly in education, health, and infrastructure. He commended Umaru Fintiri for effectively utilising federal allocations to implement impactful projects.
“That is the consequence of us working together, and we will achieve more macroeconomic successes. We are investing heavily in agriculture and human capital development. We must be able to feed ourselves,” the President said.
Tinubu noted that the repositioning of the economy through policy reforms had enabled increased allocations to states, empowering subnational governments to undertake projects that directly improve livelihoods.
He praised Governor Fintiri’s investments in education, road infrastructure, and justice administration, describing them as reflections of a government “of the people, by the people and for the people.”
Among the projects commissioned were an eight-lane road with an underpass to ease mobility and stimulate commerce, a remodelled High Court complex to strengthen the justice system, and a model school—one of 21 built across the state’s local government areas.
Tinubu also urged state governments to intensify efforts in combating poverty, especially by improving access to quality education. He thanked traditional and religious leaders in Adamawa for maintaining peace and unity amid economic reforms.
The President further commended the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as “honest, bold, courageous and committed,” and expressing confidence that banditry and terrorism would be defeated.
Governor Fintiri, in his remarks, detailed the costs of the commissioned projects, including N24.8 billion for the model schools, N15.6 billion for the expanded Galadima Aminu road project, N5.5 billion for the High Court complex, and N6.3 billion for the new Government House office complex.
Five governors attended the event, including Babagana Zulum of Borno State and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, alongside ministers and other top government officials.
