Tinubu Has Fulfilled Most Promises to the North — Minister Idris

The minister said the federal government would continue sensitising the public, particularly in the North, on the Tinubu administration’s achievements across sectors.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has fulfilled most of the promises he made to Northern Nigeria during the 2023 election campaign.

Speaking on Tuesday during a live Hausa language phone-in programme, Hannu Da Yawa, aired on Radio Nigeria Kaduna and monitored by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Idris said Tinubu had delivered significantly on issues of security, education, and agriculture.

“Before the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu came to the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation and made some promises,” he recalled. “Today, I can say he has kept those promises.”

Idris cited key appointments of northerners in the current administration as part of Tinubu’s commitment to the region. These include the Minister of Defence, National Security Adviser, Chief of Defence Staff, and ministers in Agriculture, Health, Women Affairs, Culture, and Information.

“In fact, we are more than 60 northerners working with Tinubu,” the minister said, noting that over 20 ministers and several others from the region are actively involved in the administration.

He made the comments during a two-day interactive session organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, themed “Accessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizens Engagement for National Unity.”

Idris dismissed claims that Tinubu had sidelined the North, insisting that such narratives are false and politically motivated.

“There has been some misinformation, but today we have shown and seen that such a narrative is not true. In fact, he has done so well for the North,” he added.

The minister said the federal government would continue sensitising the public, particularly in the North, on the Tinubu administration’s achievements across sectors.
