President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the issuance of all critical regulatory licences required for the Kolmani Integrated Development Projects, located on the boundary of Bauchi and Gombe States.
The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, during the flag-off of construction at the permanent site of the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy, Alkaleri (BOGAA).
According to a statement released by the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Nneamaka Okafor, the move signals the Federal Government’s commitment to ramping up crude oil production by reactivating underutilized resources.
Senator Lokpobiri explained that the decision to approve the licences was driven by the President’s strategic goal to leverage every available oil platform to enhance national output and revenue.
“Our objective is to make every productive oil platform count towards national growth,” Lokpobiri said at the event.
The Kolmani Project, led by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), marks a historic milestone in Nigeria’s oil exploration, being the first inland basin oilfield with proven commercial reserves.
The minister added that with regulatory clearance now secured, the resumption of oil exploration activities in the Kolmani area is expected to accelerate, potentially creating thousands of jobs and catalyzing infrastructure development across the region.
This development comes as part of the Tinubu administration’s broader plan to stabilize the energy sector and diversify sources of oil production amid fluctuating global oil prices.
