The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Super Eagles’ camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa playoffs will open on Sunday, November 10, in Rabat, Morocco.
Nigeria will face Gabon in the first semi-final of the playoffs, with Cameroon and DR Congo contesting the other tie. The winners of both matches will meet in the final to decide which team progresses to the intercontinental playoffs scheduled for March 2026 in Mexico.
According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), both semi-finals will take place on Thursday, November 13, while the final is set for Sunday, November 16, at the Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat.
The Super Eagles’ semi-final match against the Panthers of Gabon will be held either at the 18,000-capacity El-Barid Stadium or the 22,000-capacity Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex. CAF is expected to conduct a draw today (Thursday) to determine the venue allocation for each fixture.
NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, expressed confidence that the team will be fully prepared and motivated ahead of the crucial encounters.
“Everything is being done, by the NSC and the NFF, to see that nothing is left to chance. No stone will be left unturned,” Gusau said. “That special spirit that saw the team rise to the occasion and score the four goals they needed against Bénin Republic will propel the team to victory in the play-offs.”
He added that discussions with invited players are ongoing and that the team is united in its mission, noting that the ambition to play at the FIFA World Cup remains a strong motivating factor for the squad.
Nine African teams have already qualified directly for the expanded 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. One more African team will have a chance to secure a spot through the intercontinental playoff tournament.
